EIFS Stucco
EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) is a complete wall system: insulation board on the sheathing, a mesh-reinforced base coat, a primer and an acrylic finish. We install the DuROCK PUCCS system on new builds, additions, and re-clads of old stucco or brick.
Why stucco fails, and how we avoid it
Most stucco failures we are called to come from thin base coats, missing mesh or no drainage behind the board. We build the base coat to full thickness, embed mesh across the whole wall, and use grooved EPS so any water behind the finish drains out at the base. Windows, doors and the bottom edge are sealed and detailed.
How the job runs
A full stucco job on a single-family home usually takes one to three weeks, depending on size and weather.
- Inspection. Check the existing walls and substrate, and plan drainage and edges.
- Board and base coat. Fix the insulation board, rasp it flat, then apply the base coat and mesh at full thickness.
- Primer and finish. Tinted primer, then the acrylic finish trowelled on by hand.
- Detailing. Seal every joint and opening, clean up, and walk the job with you.

Should I repair my stucco or redo it?
If more than about a third of a wall is failing, re-cladding usually costs less over five years than repeated patching. We tell you which at the assessment.
Can you match my existing texture and colour?
Yes. We sample the existing finish and test it on a hidden section before doing the full wall.
Does stucco trap water?
Badly installed stucco can. Ours has a drainage cavity behind the insulation and sealant at every opening, so water that gets behind the finish can drain out.
